Edinson Roberto Cavani Gomez was born on February 14, 1987 in Salto, Uruguay. Uruguayan player is playing in the position of striker.

Cavani moved to Montevideo when he was 12 years old and entered the youth team Danubio F.C. His debut with the senior team took place in 2006 and was instrumental in winning the 2006 Apertura championship title. After his captivating performance at the South American Youth Championship 2007, several teams are interested in recruiting him including Juventus and AC Milan. But finally on 29 January 2007, Palermo announced the purchase of Cavani.

His debut took place on 11 March 2007, against Fiorentina as a substitute in the 55th minute and then scored a goal that kept his team safe from defeat. His goal was equal to Marco van Basten's goal in the 1989 European Cup final.

On 6 February 2008, Cavani made his first debut with Uruguay's national team and scored his first goal against Colombia.

Starting this season 2010, Cavani officially defended Napoli.
