NEDVED




PavelNedvěd was born on 30 August 1972, a Czech football player who plays as a midfielder. He is portrayed as one of the best players of his generation, he is also regarded as one of the most successful players emerging from the CzechRepublic. Won the domestic and European awards alongside Lazio's Italian club, including the Juventus Cup Winners Cup final. He leads the 2003 UEFA Champions League Final.
Nedvěd was a key member of the Czech team who reached the final of Euro 1996, where he attracted international attention. He also captained the national team at Euro 2004, where their team was defeated in the semi-finals by defending champions, Nedvěd was appointed as part of the Czech Team. Furthermore, Nedvěd helped his team qualify for the World Cup for the first time since the break-up of Czechoslovakia. Due to his quick and energetic appearance during the game, Nedvěd was nicknamed Furia Ceca "Czech Fury" by Italian fans and The Czech cannon in English-language media. His nickname in Czech is the Mea ("Little Bear"), which derives from the similarity between his family name. The Czech word for bear, Medved.
He won the Ballon D'Or as European Footballer of the Year 2003, Nedvěd is the second Czech player to receive the honor, and the first since the break-up of Czechoslovakia. During his career Nedved received many other individual awards, including a second Golden Foot prize in 2004, the Czech Footballer of the year four times and the Golden Ball six times. He was also appointed by Pelé as one of FIFA 100, and was placed on the UEFA team of the Year in 2003, 2004, and2005. He retired after the 2008-2009 season, after 19 years of professional career. Nedvěd played 501 league matches. At club level he scored a total of 110 goals, and his 91st appearance for the Czech Republic he scored only 18 goals.
